Our Principles

What’s the NATIONAL STANDARDS FRAMEWORK..?

We can provide you with all sorts of cycle training, whatever you require and whatever standard, to suit your needs.

The majority of our training conforms to the Bikeability (www.bikeability.org.uk) standards which are approved by the Government. Bikeability is an accredited training system which ensures that our delivery is outcome driven and to a specified standard. One of the criteria for Bikeability delivery is that the training must be delivered by trained and qualified instructors, the standards for instructors are laid down by the Cycle Training Standards Board (www.ctsb.org.uk).

All of our instructors are fully qualified and have to undertake continuous professional development.

You can find out more about our training on our own Schools Training and Adult Training pages.

At Cycling Solutions we base our work and the way we carry it out on the following:

The Promotion of Cycling

We exist to promote cycling in all its forms as a viable and sustainable form of transport for everyone. We believe it is everyone’s right to choose their mode of transport and that, for those who choose cycling, the road conditions and other road users should respect that choice.

To this end we will, by example and in both advisory and lobbying capacities, promote and defend cyclist’s interests at local, regional and national levels.

Cycling Training for All

We train cyclists to use the roads properly and safely as part of the traffic.

We teach the Government-endorsed National Standards assertive style of cycling which includes training in all aspects of cycling and the use of the Highway Code as it applies to bicycles.

To make our training as relevant as possible we train under appropriate risk-assessed conditions on real roads with real traffic.

Looking to the Future

We believe that cycling is a viable and simple solution to the growing health, traffic and environmental problems faced across the country and in the industrialised world at large. We also know that trained cyclists make safer and more conscientious drivers should they choose to use a car.
